Is that a Tooth ?!?!

Ahhh...Sophie Giraffe

Well Sloane's 4 months are off to a "toothy" start! Our little Genius has already gotten her first teeth! Yes! Teeth! As in more than One!

I noticed the first tooth on Wednesday, April 17th. Then things started to click for me in regards to changes in Sloane's behavior. Our daughter only cries when she is hungry, sleepy, needs her diaper changed or needs to be burped. She also never has any problems eating. Well that all changed around Monday afternoon. Sloane would cry for a bit and I didn't know why, and then while feeding she would pull away from my breast and fuss as well. I knew there was a possibility she would began teething at 4 months, but it seemed to just happen over night!

After we realized that she was teething I made the necessary adjustments regarding breastfeeding, thanks to Parent Magazine, and especially my Soror Jaclyn! Sloane has definitely sucked and chewed on her Sophie Giraffe a lot more, she hasn't had a fever as of yet thank goodness, and she has been sleeping about the same at night, but she isn't napping during the day for longer than 30 minutes. So, I thought here we go with the journey of teething! Just when you think you have figured out all the cries, BAM! Here is another reason.

Just when we were awwing and smiling over her first tooth, we discovered she had another one coming in as well! On Saturday, April 20th we noticed that Sloane's second tooth coming in next to the first one. So, she has her first two bottom teeth and they are so cute! Of course for Sloane they are annoying at this point in her little 4 month old life =(

I have to brush already Mommy?

Yay 4 Months!

Yes, our beautiful little lamb is now 4 months old. She continues to amaze us with just being Sloane Sophia.

She has grown and changed so much, but she is still only a baby! Sloane continues to bring joy into our daily lives. She is more vocal and we love it! She is expressive with her words and her face. Whether it be through her adorable smile and infectious laugh, or those amazing big eyes. There are times when she looks just like Mommy and times when she looks just like Daddy, and times when she is simply Sloane. She is Perfect!

She has reached the following milestones at 4 Months:

1. Transfers objects from hand to hand
2. Uses raking grasp
3. Supports her whole weight on her legs
4. Rolls on her side
5. Follows us with her eyes
6. Starting to respond to her name
7. Grabbing her feet/toes
8. Enjoying tummy time
9. Sleeping about 5-6 hours during the night
10. Plays peek-a-boo with Daddy

She enjoys playing on her musical mat which has a piano on it, she really can kick those long legs! She is currently 14 pounds and about 25 inches long! I am happy that she continues to eat well, and I am having no problems with providing my milk for her. She is learning to enjoy tummy time, she can hold her head up and sit in the tripod position very well. We attended a baby sign language class at Birth & Beyond, and even though it was during her morning nap time and she was the youngest baby there, she was amazed by the new faces, especially the other babies.

We have also spent time with my midwife Aleta's twins Sula (girl) and Kaden (boy). Sloane and Sula enjoyed playing on Sula's mat and looking at the butterflies, while Kaden and Sloane had a GREAT conversation after their feedings! It was the cutest thing!

We are truly Blessed and just can't thank God enough for this beautiful blessing.

Housewife vs. Housewife

Yes, I am now what you would call an official Housewife. My job is to take care of my family which consists of my Husband and my Daughter. It is a job that does not have a negotiable salary, paid holidays, vacation time, or free weekends. However, it pays GREAT! I am fulfilled because I know that my family is well taken care of by ME!

Truth...I NEVER thought I would be fulfilled being a Housewife. Meaning, I work at home. Because as any Housewife knows, it is a JOB. Point, Blank and the Period. However, if I did work outside of the home, I would still have the job of being a Housewife. I would still be responsible for taking care of my Family and my Home. Point, Blank and the Period. So, my point is, there should be no competition between Housewives. Those who solely work at home and those who work at home and outside of the home.

We as women should support one another, because we are all Moms doing our best to love and nurture our families. I could complain and say that you get a break when you go to work and don't have to worry about who will look after your baby so you can use the bathroom or take a shower. In turn you could complain and say that I am lucky to be with my child all day.

In my mind there is no competition. ALL Mother's should have the right to vent to their friends and family about the ups and downs of Motherhood. We all became gold medal winners when we were Blessed with our gifts of children.

So, if you are a Housewife who only works in the home like myself, or a Housewife who works in the home and outside of the home, Congratulations for ALL that you do! Remember it is not a competition ladies, but an exclusive club with AMAZING rewards!

Geaux Mommy's!
